Local Spotlight | Tower 12

With new restaurants and bars springing up all over the South Bay, it is sometimes hard to keep up on all of them. But what's not hard is spotting the ones have the power to become a staple in the local scene. Tower 12 is fairly new to the scene in Hermosa Beach and after recently visiting this surfers haven, we think that although the previous bar held a place near and dear to local residents, the new vibe that brings a more modern feel with a small surf city twist is a home run.

With a fresh look, the interior of the upstairs bar looks like something out of a magazine. It’s almost as if you are hanging out at your friends beach pad that has an insane taste for interior design. But don’t expect to come here and have a nice quiet dinner, this place still caters to the same lively crowds and it's often packed. Finding a seat is difficult the later it gets, so we do recommend getting here early if you're looking to grub. But with plenty of standing room throughout the bar it is the ideal place to hang after a day in the sun.

The happy hour is quite impressive with an array of delicious appetizers under 10 bucks and schooners for the price of 1 beer. We recommend the mouth watering pretzel knots which come with a little cheese fondue or the fresh poke. The drink menu is impressive as well, with local brews and colorful cocktails we recommend getting the 16th Street Spiked Rum Smash (just make sure to call an uber after).

If you haven't been to Tower 12 yet, you are definitely missing out. This place captures the more elegant side of the Hermosa Beach surf culture flawlessly.
