Manhattan Beach bags their parking meters for the holidays.

The city of Manhattan Beach is making their street parking free for the holidays by red santa bagging  meters throughout downtown, all the way to the city’s eastern border on Manhattan Beach Blvd., and in North Manhattan Beach. The free parking season has become an annual tradition for the city and runs through Christmas day.

Watch your meter if it isn’t bagged

If you pull into a space that isn’t bagged, for example the parking lots closest to The Strand, they may be owned by the State and not part of the free-tivities.

If the meter isn’t bagged, feed it.

What’s the bag-a-thon cost the city?

According to an article in the Daily Breeze from December 1st, 2014, Manhattan Beach’s meter bagging costs the city $43,000 in lost revenue per week, that’s $173,000 for the program.  Does this really mean the city generates nearly $2,000,000 off of parking and parking enforcement per year?
