4 Things to do for Valentines Day

Valentines day is made for  laughter, romance, and most importantly making memories. This year make the most of your V Day and check out our list of 4 things to do around Los Angeles.

1. Bonfire on the Beach

Visit Playa Del Rey's Dockweiler State Beach and celebrate the holiday cozying up against a bonfire that you can make with that someone special. Don't forget to bring the marshmallows and graham crackers as you watch the sun set over the ocean and enjoy a romantic evening on the beach. Be sure to get there early as these bonfire pits tend to get snatched up fast. For more info on Dockweiler State Beach visit here

2. Romantic Dinner in the City

Nothing says Valentine's Day like a romantic dinner in the city. If this is the sort of evening you imagine with your special someone may we recommend The Perch in Downtown Los Angeles or Firefly in Studio City. The Perch is a rooftop bistro, and one of the prettiest in town with patterned tile floors, dead-on view of the Central Library, potted trees full of twinkly lights. Firefly may be the closest thing to a modern day secret garden in LA, walls of tangled ivy included. Found on a more popular stretch of Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, the fine-dining restaurant offers modern American cuisine in a romantic, cozy setting—a heated patio is decorated in candles and twinkling lights, while the library-like bar area offers a truncated menu and an ideal date-night vibe.

As always with restaurants on V Day be sure to call to make reservations and plan ahead.

3. Picnic in Abalone Cove

A less expensive alternative to fine dining in the city is to break out the old picnic basket and hit the beach. We recommend Abalone Cove in Palos Verdes for the perfect picnic spot. This daytime date does require little a bit of walking to get down to the beach but could be the perfect spot to spend some time romantic time together. You might even get to see a whale or two swimming just off the shore. Parking is $5 and make sure to check their website here for hours and more information.

4. Road Trip it

If getting the far far away from LA is your ideal Valentine's Day then spend a couple days road trippin' it up the coast to one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in all of California. Big Sur is where redwood-covered mountainsides merge into the pounding ocean, with a narrow road carved into the cliffside, dishing up incredible views. Before you get too far north, stop off at Morro Bay or Pismo Beach in San Luis Obispo for a dip or a sunbathe and later, look for the sign alerting you of the elephant seals, who crowd along the shoreline.
