P2P Picks: Our Favorite Margaritas in the South Bay for Cinco de Mayo

If you are anything like us, the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words "Cinco De Mayo", besides celebrating Mexico's proud heritage, is a mouth watering margarita. Here in So Cal we are fortunate enough to have an overflowing abundance of authentic Mexican food and drink spots, so we decided to do a little round up of our favorite places to enjoy a margarita and to celebrate the holiday!

Palmilla Cocina y Tequila - Hermosa Beach

Opening at noon on Cinco De Mayo, and boasting to have the best tequila selection in town, you might want to start and end your celebrations at Palmilla Cocina y Tequila

Whether you like your margarita frozen, muddled, spicy, or skinny, Palmilla delivers for the best margarita in the South Bay. An expansive selection of tequila ensures the satisfaction of even the most discerning imbiber. A team of expert mixologists continues to add choices to the impressive margarita list and manage the massive tequila program. Whatever you choose, the margarita is sure to compliment the high-end Mexican cuisine Palmilla offers.

Mercado - Santa Monica

If you are a little further up the coast this weekend, make sure you stop by Mercado, located in the heart of Downtown Santa Monica. Although the restaurant has a modern take on Mexican food and drinks, the atmosphere is authentic as ever. From what we have gathered, their all-day specials include  $7 house margaritas, $4 Dos Equis, $8 carnitas tacos and $6 queso, among other food and drink deals. Our personal favorite is the jalapeño cucumber margarita, it is to die for!

Dia de Campo - Hermosa Beach

Opening at 3 p.m. down in Hermosa Beach, is Dia De Campo... one of our all-time favorite places to grab a bite! So on Cinco De Mayo you better believe this place will be celebrating especially with their impressive list of tequilas. They will have $1 build-your-own tacos and live latin-jazz-funk music from 3 -9 pm, and make sure you don't miss the tequila tasting from 3-4:30 PM. Our personal favorite drink here is not a margarita, but their spicy 'Passion Over Function' that features serrabañero infused vodka, passion fruit and acai.

Ortega 120 - Redondo Beach

With their award winning margaritas, Ortega's 120's modern take on Mexican food has us drooling just thinking about going there. They have pitchers of margaritas made with their own house-made mixer, but be careful because they can kick your butt! If you are looking for a fun, modern Mexican vibe for your Cinco de Mayo celebration, definitely stop in here! Our personal favorite is the Espicy Mango.

Pancho's - Manhattan Beach

Pancho's is hands down, the most authentic and the most south-of-the-border of our choices. Their food is legitimate Mexican food and they have loads of margaritas to choose from, like banana, kiwi, and strawberry...just to name a few! More importantly our favorite margarita they offer is their Cadillac AKA a “Naughty Maggie”. With a live AM 570 radio broadcast from 12-4pm, strolling mariachi's from 1-5pm, and live music from Rock with Day After Daze at 9pm, make sure you don't miss out on a true Cinco de Mayo celebration.
